Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many asylum seekers had been waiting for a decision on whether they can be granted asylum for more than 12 months on the latest date for which data is available.

At the end of June 2015, 2,426 asylum applications for main applicants and dependants were pending an initial decision after 12 months.

The figure provided is a subset of latest published statistics for applications received for asylum since April 2006, which are published by the Home Office on a monthly and quarterly basis. The latest release, Immigration Statistics April to June 2015, is available at:
