Hydrogen is likely to be fundamental to achieving the full decarbonisation of transport in the UK. Our £23 million Hydrogen for Transport Programme has increased the uptake of fuel cell electric vehicles on our roads and the number of publicly accessible hydrogen refuelling stations all across the UK.

Our commitment to expand our £20m Zero Emission Road Freight Trials (ZERFT) to trial hydrogen fuel cell HGVs at scale on UK roads next year will help determine its operational benefits and infrastructure needs and support UK industry to rapidly transition to cost-effective, zero-emission HGVs.
