Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, if he will commission research on the reasons for people going to a GP surgery.

We have no plans to commission research on the reasons for people going to a general practitioner (GP) surgery.

Under the terms of their contracts, GPs are required to provide essential primary medical care services to their patients who are, or believe themselves to be, ill, terminally ill, or suffering from chronic disease.
