Question to the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology:
To ask the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, what recent assessment her Department has made of the potential merits of negotiating with (a) the European Union and (b) UK telecoms providers to abolish additional mobile roaming charges.
Since the UK is no longer party to the EU Roaming Regulation, known as ‘Roam Like at Home’, it is for mobile operators to decide whether to impose a surcharge on their consumers travelling to the EU for their mobile phone usage.
