The UK will continue to work with governments, businesses and civil society across the world to help achieve net zero emissions.

In advance of COP26, our diplomats spent hundreds of hours lobbying governments for increased ambition on tackling climate change. Over 150 countries updated their emissions reduction targets and a net-zero target now covers 90% of the global economy, up from 30% two years ago when the UK assumed the Presidency. COP26 concluded with all 197 Parties agreeing to the Glasgow Climate Pact to keep 1.5°C alive and finalise the outstanding elements of the Paris Rulebook.

This would not have been possible without the UK's diplomatic and policy work both ahead of and at COP26 in building coalitions and driving ambition. Throughout the UK's Presidency, we will work tirelessly with partners across the world to deliver and build on the Glasgow Climate Pact, support countries on the frontline of climate change and drive down emissions to reach net zero.
