Question to the Home Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, whether residents in spot booking hotels are entitled to seek advice and treatment from general practitioners.
The Home Office has a statutory obligation to provide accommodation and other support to asylum seekers who would otherwise be destitute while their application for asylum is being considered.
Asylum seekers have access to health and social care services from the point of arrival in the UK and the Home Office and its contractors work closely with the NHS, Local Authorities and Non-Governmental Organisations to ensure that people can access the healthcare and support they need.
The asylum seekers accommodated in hotels by the Home Office have access to Migrant Help, a voluntary sector organisation funded by the Home Office, and they can use the NHS free of charge.
