The Windrush Compensation Scheme and application process was designed, with the independent oversight of Martin Forde QC, to be as clear and simple as possible. Claim forms for the scheme were tested with users to ensure they are easy to understand and complete. While the forms may appear long, people only need to complete the sections of the form that relate to their individual claims.

Guidance on how to complete a claim for compensation can be found on gov.uk at: www.gov.uk/government/publications/windrush-compensation-scheme-claim-forms-and-guidance. For those who want or need support to make a claim, the Home Office has funded Citizens Advice to provide free independent advice and support. A referral to Citizens Advice can be made via the Windrush Help Team. The team can also assist individuals should they have questions about the claim form or process.
