The independent Office for National Statistics (ONS) is responsible for measuring the size of the economy. In the second quarter of 2016, the size of the economy as measured by current price – or nominal GDP, was estimated at £502,284 million. The latest data, for the third quarter of 2021 estimate that the size of the economy was £587,198 million. Data for the first quarter of 2022 will be published in May 2022.
