Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask Her Majesty’s Government what discussions they are having with other European governments following Prime Minister Netanyahu’s remarks on 11 July that he would never consent to a fully sovereign Palestinian state in the West Bank.
We noted Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s comments of 11 July. The UK has frequent conversations with EU partners about the Middle East Peace Process, but has not discussed these specific comments. The Foreign Affairs Council agreed conclusions on 21 July which firmly restated the EU’s commitment to the state of Israel and an independent, democratic, contiguous, sovereign and viable State of Palestine living side by side in peace, security and mutual recognition.
