Question
To ask Her Majesty’s Government what national security considerations they take into account when awarding contracts for the provision of nuclear-generated electricity in the United Kingdom.
The Government does not award contracts for the provision of nuclear generated electricity as this is a matter for the private markets. We welcome investment and Britain is open for business.
Nuclear site licensees and those constructing nuclear facilities are required to meet a number of stringent security requirements including in the areas of physical security, guarding and personal vetting, which the independent Office for Nuclear Regulation monitors and enforces.
