Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they have made any representations to the government of Turkey about the lack of security of tenure for judges; and whether they intend to ask the UN Special Rapporteur to investigate this issue.

​We have encouraged respect for fundamental freedoms and checks and balances in Turkey, including the importance of an established, independent judiciary. We do not have plans to request a UN Special Rapporteur to investigate this issue.
