Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask Her Majesty's Government what guidance is issued to (1) hospitals, and (2) GPs, in England about treating venous leg ulcers.

There is a National Institute for Health and Care Excellence Clinical Knowledge Summary regarding venous leg ulcers available online only, which includes details on venous leg ulcer management. NHS England and NHS Improvement have advised that whilst this provides some guidance, it is not a full guideline.

NHS England and NHS Improvement have also advised that hospitals and community services have, in some cases, developed their own guidance based on research findings and expert opinion.
