(asked on 26th June 2019) - View Source

Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether existing legislation in relation to illegal flights has been the subject of a review since the Piper PA-46 Malibu crash on 21 January; and what further steps are being taken to ensure that such legislation is fit for purpose.

This question was answered on 3rd July 2019

The Department for Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority keep all existing legislation under constant review, in order to maintain the UK’s high standards of Aviation Safety. This includes legislation relating to illegal flights. Additionally, the Civil Aviation Authority’s Internal Safety Assurance Review of Illegal Public Transport will consider whether there are any gaps in the current regulatory regime, with this review due to conclude by August 2019.
