Question to the Home Office:

To ask Her Majesty's Government how many people who are subject to immigration removal are currently held in prisons in England and Wales; and what are the (1) maximum, and (2) mean, periods for which they have been so held.

The Home Office publishes quarterly statistics on the number of foreign nationals detained under immigration powers in prisons including the length of detention.
