Question to the Home Office:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they plan to extend the right of asylum-seekers to work beyond the jobs listed in the Shortage Occupation List.

We have no plans to extend asylum seekers’ right to work beyond the jobs listed in the Shortage Occupation List for those whose claim has been outstanding for at least 12 months through no fault of their own. This policy is designed to prioritise access to employment for British Citizens and those lawfully resident here, including refugees.
