Question to the Home Office:
To ask Her Majesty’s Government what steps they are taking to detect people from Iraq, Pakistan, Palestine and Albania using stolen Syrian passports to enter the United Kingdom.
Border Force uses a range of methods to detect and deter those seeking to enter the UK using stolen passports. This includes the use of advanced technology to identify those attempting to travel to the UK on lost or stolen documentation. Immigration Enforcement operates a network of overseas liaison officers whose role includes working with transport operators to identify imposters and prevent them from travelling to the UK. At the UK border, Border Force Officers, with expertise in forgery and imposter detection, carry out comprehensive checks on all passengers arriving at passport control to establish authenticity and whether the passenger is the rightful holder.
