Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask Her Majesty’s Government how many nurses removed themselves or were removed from the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register in 2014–15.
Information about the number of nurses who removed themselves, or were removed from the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) Register in 2014-15 is not held centrally.
The NMC is the independent regulator of nurses and midwives in the United Kingdom and is responsible for nurse registration. Statistical information provided by the NMC
states that 25,895 nurses, left or were removed from, its register in 2014-15. Of these, 477 nurses were struck off by the NMC.
