Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask His Majesty's Government what steps they are they taking to provide local authorities with additional funding for housebuilding projects.

Building more social and affordable homes is a priority for this Government, and councils have a key role to play in the delivery of new affordable homes. The Levelling Up White Paper set out the Government's commitment to increase the amount of social housing over time and build more genuinely affordable social housing.

The Government wants to see local authorities delivering the next generation of council housing and we have given them a comprehensive range of tools to do so. Our £11.5 billion Affordable Homes Programme, which councils can bid for, will leverage public and private finance to provide new homes across the country.
