Question to the Home Office:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government, further to the answer by Baroness Williams of Trafford on 21 November (HL Deb, cols 1723–4) concerning seizures of illegal firearms, what assessment has been made of the current level of detection technology; and what improvements are being sought.

A cross-government review of science and technology for firearms detection is currently underway but for reasons of national security the Government is not able to discuss details of the review or its eventual findings.
