Question to the Home Office:
To ask His Majesty's Government whether they plan to introduce a maximum time limit for immigration detention; and, if not, why not.

Detention is an essential part of effective immigration control. We only detain people where removal is a realistic prospect within a reasonable timeframe, or to establish their identity or the basis of their claim.
