To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether they have held discussions with the European Union concerning the case for reversing its policy of trying to isolate and topple Hamas, in the light of the analysis of the International Crisis Group.
This question was answered on 23rd December 2014
The EU and the UK have not changed their position on Hamas. The military wing of Hamas has been proscribed since 2001 under UK legislation. On Wednesday 17 December the EU General Court annulled the EU listing of Hamas on procedural grounds. However the effects of the EU Hamas listing including asset freezes, remain in place and we will work with partners to ensure that the Hamas listing at the EU is maintained.
