Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government, in the light of the annual progress report on the United Kingdom 5 Year Antimicrobial Resistance Strategy, how they plan to handle newly launched or soon-to-be launched antibiotics in a way that is compatible with the broad goals of the strategy.

The Department is in the process of convening a group involving industry to explore how to address interim issues pending the conclusion of the review on antimicrobial resistance. Among these will be how to treat new antimicrobial products which are close to launch.
