Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether consideration has been given to changing European Union policies on Eritrea as part of an attempt to reduce the number of refugees from that country.

The UK remains concerned by increasing numbers of irregular migrants from Eritrea to Western Europe. The UK and EU partners will continue to work with Eritrea through the new EU - Horn of Africa Migration Route Initiative (‘Khartoum Process’) to advance cooperation on human trafficking and irregular migration.
