Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask Her Majesty's Government what action they intend to take following the vote on the motion at the UN General Assembly in New York, "that any actions by Israel, the occupying Power, to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration on the Holy City of Jerusalem were illegal and therefore null and void".
The UK's position on the status of Jerusalem is clear and long-standing: it should be determined in a negotiated settlement between the Israelis and the Palestinians, and Jerusalem should ultimately be the shared capital of the Israeli and Palestinian states. In line with relevant Security Council Resolutions, including Resolution 2334, we regard East Jerusalem as part of the Occupied Palestinian Territories. We will continue to make our position clear with all of our international partners.
