Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they have made an assessment of the findings of Matthew Mold et al on aluminium in brain tissue in autism, reported in the Journal of Trace Elements in Medicine and Biology; and if so, whether they will encourage further investigation of the link between the incidence of autism spectrum disorder and aluminium.

No assessment has been made of the findings of this research. The Department funds research through the National Institute for Health Research which takes independent expert advice on which research proposals to support.
