Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask His Majesty's Government what is their estimate of the current monthly cost of the operation of the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland in respect of (1) the Trader Support Service, (2) any costs to businesses, and (3) any related areas.

The estimated monthly cost of running the Trader Support Service in 2023 is £9.4 million.

The Government recognises that the Protocol is causing practical problems for traders. The Government is engaging in constructive dialogue with the European Union, and also brought forward the Northern Ireland Protocol Bill aimed at fixing those problems.
