To ask Her Majesty’s Government what is their assessment of the reasons for the reported increase in financial problems amongst students.

The Government has made financial support available to students for both tuition fees and maintenance costs.

Eligible students attending full-time undergraduate courses that are designated for student support can apply for fully means-tested Maintenance Grants and loans for living costs, 35% of which are based on a student’s household income. Students in hardship can also speak to their institution’s Student Welfare Officer.
