The National Crime Agency (NCA) is operationally independent of the Home Office. As set out in Section four of the Crime and Courts Act 2013, and the ‘Revised Framework Document for the NCA’, published in May 2015, the Director General of the Agency is responsible for all decisions about which operations to conduct and how they should be conducted. It is therefore not for the Home Office to refer matters for investigation.
