Question to the HM Treasury:
To ask Her Majesty’s Government what plans they have to encourage consumer spending during the period of negotiations for leaving the EU.
Consumer spending is proving to be resilient, growing by 2.6% in Q3 2016 compared to Q3 2015. The OBR forecast household consumption will continue to grow in 2017 and onwards. The government is taking targeted action to help people’s money go further: freezing fuel duty, providing affordable housing, raising the personal allowance and the National Living Wage.
