Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government what is their target for the planting of new trees in England for (1) 2016–17, and (2) 2017–18.

This question was answered on 26th January 2017

Woodland cover in England is at its highest since the 14th century. We have not set annual targets for the numbers of trees planted in England, but have instead set an overall target of 11 million trees to be planted by the end of this Parliament.
