Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask Her Majesty’s Government what representations they have made to the government of the Philippines about the apparent failure to implement in full (1) the Public Telecommunications Policy Act 1995, (2) the Anti-Child Pornography Act 2009, and (3) the National Telecommunications Commission Circular No 01-01-2014; and when they expect to receive responses to any such representations.
The UK Government is working actively with the Philippines authorities to combat child sexual exploitation, including through implementation of the relevant legislation. The National Crime Agency has provided training on the forensic analysis of digital media and is assisting the Philippine Government with its national plan under the WePROTECT Global Alliance. The UK Government has committed £10 million in funding to the Alliance, as a clear demonstration of our policy of addressing child sexual exploitation through multilateral cooperation.
