Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:
To ask Her Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the amount of additional (1) social, and (2) affordable, housing that could be provided by refurbishing existing buildings.
This question was answered on 16th June 2020
It is for local authorities to make an assessment of the need for affordable housing in their area and how best to meet this need including through planning consent.
We have made no assessment of the amount of additional social or affordable housing that could be provided through the refurbishment of existing buildings.
