Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government what representations they have made to the government of Turkey regarding the imprisonment of Eren Keskin and Inan Kizilkaya.

We regularly raise the importance of the rule of law and fundamental rights, including freedom of expression, with Turkish counterparts. Most recently, the Prime Minister, my Rt Hon. Friend the Member for Maidenhead (Mrs May), raised these issues during her visit to Turkey on 28 January. Through our Embassy in Ankara and along with partners, we regularly monitor trials including those of Eren Keskin and Inan Kizilkaya.
