Wines: Labelling

Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government, further to the Written Answer by Lord Gardiner of Kimble on 13 February (HL5188), whether the Food Standards Agency has identified any increased perceived risk of wrongly labelled French and Spanish wine in the light of widespread reports of wine fraud in the EU.

Wine sampling is conducted by the Government on a random and risk led basis. It therefore remains fully adaptable to respond to actual and perceived risks faced by the wine sector and consumers.
