Question to the Home Office:

To ask Her Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of reports that police in England and Wales have been found to be six times more likely to fine BAME people in the COVID-19 lockdown.

The Government is clear that nobody should be subject to police enforcement on the basis of race.

This is why we are working closely with policing partners to analyse the Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) data to determine if there has been a disproportionate impact on people from BAME backgrounds, or any other protected characteristic.
