Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government what steps they are taking to ensure that a sufficient number of medical doctors are trained to perform abortions in the UK, in the light of the fact that the majority of abortions are performed in the independent sector and not in the NHS.

The President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists is leading a programme of work to address this issue, working with the Department and other national organisations.
