Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask Her Majesty's Government how many death threats against Rwandans living in the UK they are aware of in each year since 2000; how many of those they suspect emanate from the government of Rwanda; and what action, if any, they are taking to prevent such threats.
We are aware of recent media reports about police warnings of death threats made against two Rwandan dissidents resident in the UK. We are also aware of threats made by representatives of the Rwandan Government in 2011 against two individuals resident in the UK.
The UK takes a zero tolerance approach to violence and threats. We do not comment on individual cases, but anyone who receives threats against their person should report these to the police.
