Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask His Majesty's Government what plans they have to pursue further planning reforms to speed up approvals for infrastructure projects that are critical to the UK’s economic transformation.

The Government recently published (23 February 2023) an Action Plan for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs), which sets out how the consenting process for NSIPs will be reformed. This will enable the planning system to deliver the major infrastructure needed to improve energy security, achieve net zero and deliver the transport connectivity, water and waste management facilities this country needs.
