Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask Her Majesty's Government (1) how many, and (2) what percentage of, GPs in England opt out of providing contraceptive services to their registered patients.
As at 31 March 2018, there were three practices (0.04%) that had opted out of providing contraceptive services.
The current general practitioner contract allows practices to opt out of providing contraceptive services to their registered patients. Where they do so, NHS England has responsibility for ensuring patients of those practices have access to such services.
