Question to the Home Office:
To ask Her Majesty's Government what measures they have taken to facilitate the provision of compensation for people who suffered due to the Windrush immigration issue.
The former Home Secretary announced to Parliament on 23 April 2018 that where people have suffered loss they will be compensated. The Home Office will set up a new scheme to deliver this, which will be run by an independent person.
The Home Office has launched a Call for Evidence which is an opportunity for those who have been affected, and their families, to tell us what happened, how it has affected them and what they believe the compensation scheme needs to address.
Further information on the findings of the Call for evidence will be published in the coming weeks and will be used to inform the design options and scope of a compensation scheme
