Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask Her Majesty's Government what plans they have to promote democratic values and international human rights obligations being upheld in Turkey before, and after, forthcoming elections.

​We raise issues of concern regularly with the Turkish government and have urged them to lift the State of Emergency, as well as to ensure that freedom of expression and other human rights principles are observed. The Prime Minister raised these issues with President Erdogan during his visit to London in May.
