Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether the recent EU summit in Sofia has strengthened their support for EU enlargement, and in particular the candidacy of Albania and Macedonia.

​The Government will continue to support countries committed to the EU accession process in meeting the necessary requirements, including Albania and Macedonia – this position is long-standing. As and when candidate countries have met the requirements for accession in full, it will be for those countries and European Union members at the time to decide on membership.
