Question to the HM Treasury:
To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they intend to instruct the National Infrastructure Commission to assess infrastructure challenges in the general aviation sector.
The National Infrastructure Commission’s (NIC) remit includes all sectors of economic infrastructure, including transport (road, rail, ports and airports). The NIC will publish their first ever National Infrastructure Assessment (NIA) this summer. This document will assess the UK’s infrastructure needs over the next 30 years, and make recommendations to government on how to address them. The Chancellor of the Exchequer commissions the NIC to conduct short term studies into specific, priority infrastructure issues. The Chancellor will consider what further work to commission the NIC in light of the NIA’s recommendations.
Aviation continues to be a priority for the government and we are developing an Aviation Strategy that will set out the long-term direction for aviation policy to 2050 and beyond.
