Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they have any plans to initiate talks to relieve the Syrian crisis on (1) a faith basis, (2) an ethnic basis, and (3) a political basis.

The UK continues to work for a negotiated, inclusive peace settlement for Syria which would protect all Syrians, regardless of their faith, ethnicity or political affiliation. We already strongly support efforts by the UN and the Syrian opposition to involve ethnic and religious minorities in the UN-mediated peace process. We also engage with faith leaders and a diverse range of organisations in the UK and the Middle East to discuss efforts to promote peace and reconciliation in Syria.
