We continue to engage with the Syrian Government on the importance of protecting the rights of all Syrians regardless of religious or ethnic background, improving their response to sectarian violence, and holding all those responsible to account. The Foreign Secretary raised these issues during his visit to Damascus and in his recent call with Foreign Minister Shaibani. During the call, he also expressed concerns about the violence in Suwayda and underlined the importance of investigating the causes and bringing an end to the fighting.
