Answered by Lord Markham - Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Department of Health and Social Care) No assessment has been made of the impact of the Abortion Act 1967 on United Kingdom birth rates. Parliament decided the circumstances under which abortion can legally be undertaken. Under the act, women have access to safe, legal, regulated abortion services.

Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask His Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the impact of the Abortion Act 1967 on UK birth rates.

Answered by Lord Markham - Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Department of Health and Social Care)

No assessment has been made of the impact of the Abortion Act 1967 on United Kingdom birth rates. Parliament decided the circumstances under which abortion can legally be undertaken. Under the act, women have access to safe, legal, regulated abortion services.

Decriminalise Abortion. Abortion should be a womans right to choose. Petition Rejected - 8 Signatures Abortion is currently only legal under criminal law when you follow a certain set of rules. Abortion should be a right to UK women under the bill of rights. There should still be guidelines set in terms of how late you can get an abortion. Women should not feel like criminals to access healthcare.
