Adapt gambling laws to include gambling in video games which targets children. - Final Signatures: 16,969

Many video game companies in recent years have introduced mechanics which are essentially gambling of which are targeted at children and vulnerable adults. While not currently considers gambling by law they do copy many traits to make them as addictive and can lead to real money being lost/earned.

The Gambling Commission has strong powers to regulate gambling and is monitoring convergence between gambling and video games closely. The government is committed to protecting children from harm.

Tickets are being bought from sites and are getting sold to third party sellers for a high price meaning real fans are missing out. Reselling of football tickets is illegal under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. Why can’t laws apply for tickets to concerts and other sporting events?

The Royal Charter maintains the licence fee funding model until 2027. The government will look at the licence fee funding model in advance of the next Charter.

The UK Government plan to criminalise cyber flashing. This does not protect other victims who receive unwanted sexual communications online. It is far too common and needs to be met with serious consequences, such as fine, custodial sentences, or being registered as a sex offender.
