Written Question
Fraud
Tuesday 16th December 2014

Asked by: Lord Kennedy of Southwark (Labour - Life peer)

Question to the Attorney General:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government how many prosecutions for phone scamming offences there were in each year from 2010.

Answered by Lord Wallace of Tankerness

The Crown Prosecution Service maintains a central record of the number of prosecutions it conducts for fraud and/or forgery offences; however, it is not possible to identify which of these offences were conducted, in whole or in part, through the telephone. To obtain this information would require a manual file examination which would incur a disproportionate cost.
