European Union Referendum Bill

"The noble Lord is absolutely right. As I have said before, I believe this country would thrive outside the European Union.

Written Question
Freedom of Expression
Monday 20th July 2015

Asked by: Lord Stoddart of Swindon (Independent Labour - Life peer)

Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government, further to the Written Answer by Lord Faulks on 1 July (HL561), whether they plan to review extant Acts of Parliament to ensure that the right of freedom of expression is not being restricted.

Answered by Lord Faulks

Currently, there are no plans to review extant Acts of Parliament to ensure that the right of freedom of expression is not being restricted.

The Government will be bringing forward proposals for a Bill of Rights to protect fundamental human rights, but also prevent their abuse and restore some common sense to the system.
