To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, whether his Department has had recent discussions with relevant stakeholders on tackling late invoice payments to small and medium sized enterprises.

The Code was last reviewed and changes made in 2021, we will keep these measures under review and bring forward further changes where necessary.

Small Businesses: Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Renewable Energy
Thursday 3rd November 2022

Asked by: Seema Malhotra (Labour (Co-op) - Feltham and Heston)

Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, how much public funding his Department has provided to SMEs to (a) transition to renewable energy and (b) reach net zero since December 2019.

Answered by Graham Stuart

The Government is continuing to support UK businesses to meet their net zero commitments via the UK Business Climate Hub. Alongside providing advice and guidance on net zero, small UK businesses are encouraged to join the UN’s ‘Race to Zero’ initiative – a global effort to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases to zero by 2050. Currently, more than 3,639 UK small businesses have joined the Race to Zero.

The new £450 million Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) offers grants up to £6,000 towards heat pumps and, in limited circumstances, biomass boilers. The scheme is open to both domestic and small non-domestic properties.
